I wasn't looking to pick up a microphone brand for Federal Audio but a good friend in the UK had been raving about Miktek and urged me to check them out. I contacted Miktek and grabbed a C7 and CV4 to try out for myself (yep, indeed impressed!) and then farmed them out to some local engineers to get additional feedback on, neither mic was returned and was put into immediate action over and above some serious heavyweight contenders. Ok, I better get onboard then.....
Without the peaky upper mids that are common in many budget and mid priced microphones, Miktek condensors have a smooth, detailed response that is inspired by iconic microphones of the past and have now been adopted here in Australia by some of our best engineers and producers. The CV4 tube and C5 SDC's can be found on numerous 'The Voice' recordings, The Rubens 'Hoops', Kate Miller Heidke, MKO Sun (to name a few) and is now becoming a firm favourite of home producers looking to step up from the standard, local offerings.
Featuring Telefunken NOS tubes and AMI custom transformers, Miktek have mics suitable for stage and studio duties.
Seen recently on the Justin Timberlake tour with Tony Royster Jnr, the range of dynamic drum mics are punchy and full bodied, Recording Hacks blog listed the PM11 as 'the new metal king' in it's Kick Drum Mic Review and the PM10 tom/snare mic delivers a largeness without the need for gratuitous EQ. To complete the package the drum mic kits also include a rim mounts that enable both close and more distant mic positions.
Miktek are designed and assembled in Nashville, USA.
