Mobius’ leading-edge technologies listed below work together to create realistic 3D audio and to produce an immersive cinematic experience.
•Audeze's planar magnetic drivers optimised for spatial audio
•Advanced 3D sound emulation algorithm that uses 6-axis (quaternion) tracking with 3-axial accelerometer and 3-axial gyroscope for continuous, intelligent head-tracking
•Anatomically calibrated sound-field personalised based on head geometry
•Psychoacoustically motivated customisation of sound-field size
•Support for surround sound modes
The plug and play options with USB-C, Analog (3.5 mm) and Bluetooth with AAC / LDAC support allows you to get the Mobius high fidelity sound experience wherever you go, whenever you need it. Mobius delivers a realistic 3D sound experience, in a manner consistent with real-world listening. This means that you will hear your gaming opponent sneaking up behind you as clearly as though they were in the room with you!
Why did Audeze launch Mobius on Indiegogo?
Making hardware is tough. Even though the tooling and product development is complete, estimating demand is difficult for small and large companies alike. This is an entirely new market for Audeze and they needed exposure beyond their traditional customer base. Indiegogo has proven its effectiveness in reaching the technophile and gaming sphere. Putting this project on Indiegogo provided an opportunity to reach out to as many new customers as possible. It also allowed a to better estimation of how much to plan and order for initial production.
Do I need any special software for this to work?
No, this is not an encode/decode system. Mobius is designed specifically to provide you with the ease of a plug and play setup. There is a software application for Windows that can be used to customise the headphone audio for those that so choose. This will work without any need for external software. However, the special Mobius Creator edition will require the plugins for VR and AR content creation. These will work with Windows, Macintosh, Linux, and Android (with correct USB audio drivers in use). An application for Windows will be released that will allow firmware updates, customisation based on head geometry, and room size. App support for other platforms will depend on demand.
Will Mobius work with my Xbox/Playstation/Switch?
Mobius will work with Xbox/PS4/Switch using only the analog cable (or Bluetooth if applicable). USB audio will not work with these devices. However, the headtracking, room emulation, and spatialisation also work in analog and Bluetooth modes. So, even though you don't get USB audio, the analog connection with 3D audio is very compelling.
Can I turn off the 3D features?
Yes. The 3D features can be turned off if you choose and Mobius can be used as standard Audeze planar headphones.
Is the boom microphone included?
Yes. It uses a standard 3.5mm TRRS plug/jack. You can easily remove it at any time, but please note it is “keyed” and should be inserted correctly.
How long is the battery life, and how long does it take to fully charge?
Battery life is around 10+ hours with 3D audio enabled. With USB usage, the battery will be charged when plugged in. Charge time with a 1.0 Amp charger and Mobius turned off is about 3 hours from 0% to 100%.
If the battery runs out and I’m using the analog cable, will Mobius continue to work?
No, due to all the features we’ve included, Mobius must either run on battery power or be plugged into a USB port.
What is the material on the ear pads and headband? Are the ear pads replaceable?
The ear pads and headband use memory foam covered in artificial leather. The ear pads are contoured to provide both a good seal and comfort and are user replaceable.
Can I use Mobius for things other than gaming?
Absolutely. You can use Mobius for listening to music, watching movies in 5.1 or 7.1 surround sound, mixing or mastering audio (especially multichannel audio), creating content for VR/AR applications, or to simply wear around your neck. In fact, they work great for teleconferencing (SKYPE, Discord, TeamSpeak calls!) and even FaceTime on iPhones. Mobius is tuned to have frequency response like Audeze’s LCD series of professional headphones and is equally great if used beyond gaming.
Will this work over USB-C on my Android phone?
Audeze have tested Mobius with the following phones: Google Pixel phones, Sony USB-C models, Razer, and Samsung Galaxy s9. They cannot guarantee compatibility with every USB-C mobile phone since the Android USB Audio implementation varies between manufacturers. It will also work using the camera adapter on iDevices.
Will this work with my iPhone?
Mobius will work with iDevices using the Lightning-to-USB camera adapter. There is no native Lightning connectivity.
My cell phone only has a micro USB port. How do I get it to work with the USB C of the Mobius?
A micro USB to C adapter (not included) should work for that purpose.
Which Bluetooth profiles are supported?
SBC, AAC and LDAC are supported. LDAC support is still in compliance testing.
Does Mobius support fast charging or wireless charging?
What about support for Dolby Atmos, Ambisonics, MPEG-H, etc.?
To bring Mobius to you as soon as possible, Audeze have worked hard managing the fine balance between the features they can deliver in a timely manner, content availability, and what is truly capable within chipsets that are available today. We firmly believe Mobius offers an unbeatable combination of price for its incredible feature set. Some features not currently included today are on a road map for the future. At this time, Audeze have chosen to support Ambisonics through plugins.
What is the warranty for Mobius?
Audeze offer a one-year warranty unless otherwise mandated by local laws.
What is the battery warranty?
Battery warranty is one year from the date we ship your Mobius.
Will the Mobius be hand-built in Southern California like the rest of Audeze’s headphones?
The Mobius is designed and engineered in Audeze's California facility. The planar transducers and their special thin films will also be manufactured here. Other parts will be sourced from different countries including Taiwan, China, and Japan. However, due to the large quantities needed to satisfy worldwide demand, the final assembly of Mobius will be in China with Audeze’s own quality control department in charge of production.
Where can I buy Mobius now that the Indiegogo campaign has ended?
